Save energy and money without breaking the bank. CORE provides funding for energy efficiency and electrification projects through grants and rebates.
Electrification projects in our commercial and multifamily building sector have the potential to make the biggest impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reaching our climate action goals. Energy efficiency projects can also produce meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Commercial and Multifamily Building Rebates
Funding for commercial and multifamily building electrification projects is available to community members living in Pitkin County, Garfield County, and in the town of Basalt. Click here for projects in Eagle County but outside of Basalt town limits. Rebates are available for existing buildings unless otherwise noted. Multifamily buildings are defined as complexes with four or more units in the building. Multifamily projects must be in the common area of the building and/or every unit of the building.
Energy Efficiency Projects
Rebate Amounts
- 50% of the project cost up to $12,500 for standard participants
- 50% of the project cost up to $25,000 for Community Priority Participants
Fuel Switching Projects
Rebate Amounts
- 50% of the project cost up to $25,000 for standard participants
- 50% of the project cost up to $50,000 for Community Priority Participants

Eligible Commercial or Multifamily Fuel Switching Projects
Space Heating, Water Heating, Snowmelt, and Ventilation
Replacing a fossil fuel system with:
- A heat pump for space heating, water heating, or snowmelt
- A heat-recovery or heat pump ventilation system
Design costs and electrical capacity upgrade costs associated with a completed heat pump project will be included in the project cost used to determine the rebate.
Custom Rebates
Custom rebates will be considered for projects that do not fall within the previous project types but produce significant energy savings.
Energy Spotlight
CCY Architects
By awarding a $20,000 grant and advising, CORE’s support enabled CCY Architects to install a heat pump rooftop unit (RTU) project, which heats and cools the office building with 100% electricity and replaced their aging gas RTU.
Grant Eligible Projects
Grants are intended for larger, long-term, and more impactful projects where rebates are not enough to fulfill the project needs and where grants can make the difference in completing the project.
Energy efficiency and building electrification projects in existing buildings are the focus of CORE’s grant program, but applications for new construction are also considered. Grants are awarded for implementation projects only; design work is supported through the rebates.
Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis as funds allow. CORE staff works with interested parties to analyze the greenhouse gas impact of a project before an application is submitted. Contact our Energy Concierge team to discuss your interest in applying for a grant.
