I feel inspired about the future because throughout the world people are taking action to help fight climate change. The moment climate change became real for me was seeing massive and frequent western wildfires. The hotter temperatures linked to climate warming, which burned twice as many acres a year over the past two decades compared with the previous 15 years. In my lifetime, I have observe the human population grow and reach billions. More people means more demand for oil, gas, coal and other fuels mined or drilled from below the Earth’s surface that, when burned, spew enough carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere to trap warm air inside like a greenhouse. Healing the planet starts in your garage, in your kitchen, and at your dining-room table. Supporting organizations, businesses, and inspiring our youth are steps we can continue taking to restore climate. The good news: We are not alone. People, communities, cities, businesses, schools, faith groups and other organizations are taking action. We’re fighting like our lives depend on it — because they do.
