Fifteen years ago, I bought a property that was two miles off grid. There, I built a 100% solar, straw bale house that also had many other sustainable aspects to it. For winters, I maintained the county road with my Bobcat snowblower, Hercules. My first winter, I had over 450 inches of beautiful, light snow. In the next thirteen winters, I noticed an extraordinary change in the amount and consistency of snowfalls. Each year, I found the season shortening with many very warm days in between snowfalls. So now, my plowing included dealing with ice build up from the hot and cold weather, making the road much more difficult to manage. It has consistently gotten worse. This is climate change.
