Climate change makes me nervous about the future – especially for the Roaring Fork Valley. Many people, including myself, are here to live, work, and play in the abundant natural resources in this area. As a person who likes to hike, raft, bike, ski, you-name-it . . . the changing climate puts our way of life here at risk. Actually, it puts everyone’s life across the world at risk. In a way, the issue of climate unites people across the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. I think undoubtedly, climate change is going to affect everyone’s future. What might make a difference though is the way that we all decide to rise and meet it. Having open, vulnerable conversations among diverse groups of people about what we can do to mitigate those effects is a great start. Everyone – regardless of our differences – deserves a seat at the table when it comes to talking about our future.
