My connection to nature and seasons really happened when I fell in love with snowboarding when I was 12. Because of snowboarding, I’ve traveled a lot of places and have seen the effects of climate change through shorter seasons and shuttered ski areas. My family’s local ski hill in Wisconsin was a victim to this. This area is where most of my family learned to ski and my cousins worked as patrollers for many seasons. The seasons, however, kept getting shorter and shorter and eventually the area had to close as it didn’t have money to invest in snowmaking and the snow simply wasn’t falling. Skiing and snowboarding are activities that bring the masses together and together, I hope that we can make strides FOR the climate and the snow.
