The following can be recycled in Pitkin County:
- Plastics 1-7
- Glass bottles
- Aluminum foil and cans
- Metal cans
- Newspaper and inserts
- White office paper
- Staples and paper clips
- Pastel paper and post-it-notes
- Corrugated cardboard
- Brown paper bags
- Plastic bags are NOT recyclable
- Compostable plasticware is NOT recyclable
- Cardboard is NOT recyclable UNLESS it is corrugated
- Household dishware
- Styrofoam including packaging peanuts
- Neon paper
- File folders
- Phone books
- Paper board
- Pack carries like beer carriers
Under Colorado law, residential and business electronics are banned from being disposed of in a landfill and must be recycled.
Wondering where to recycle old computers, batteries or lightbulbs? To dispose of small electronics the cost is $5, for medium it cost $10 and large electronics will cost $25. Recycle your e-waste at the Pitkin County Resource Recovery Landfill located at 32046 Highway 82.
