Completed Projects

(Click here for media coverage of CORE’s projects.)

We’re grateful to work in a community that has done so much to move toward efficiency and renewables. We’re especially pleased with our partners, who have completed the following projects with CORE staff support and funding assistance. Many of these projects have been funded through the Renewable Energy Mitigation Program (REMP), a part of Aspen/Pitkin building code that is essentially the nation’s first “carbon tax”, written and pioneered by the Building Departments and CORE staff. Projects marked “GKG” were awarded a REMP Green Key Grant, the most prestigious awards given through the program.

For photos and technical project details, please  visit the REMP album on our Facebook page.

Capacity and Staffing

Finally, CORE and the REMP program in its early years were huge catalysts for creating and funding staff positions in the Valley to further address climate change and energy issues. These positions, in turn, have resulted in a multiplier effect for CORE’s work and helped the Roaring Fork Valley be a model region for many policies and projects.

  • Aspen & Pitkin County Efficient Building Program
  • Canary Initiative
    • Three years of funding for this City of Aspen program, particularly to establish emissions reductions targets
  • Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER) was initially started with CORE seed money
  • Pitkin County Energy Manager’s office
